Welsh Guards will be at the Civic Centre June 24

Locally based soldiers from the 1 st Battalion Welsh Guards and their Corps of Drums will put on a display of colour and pageantry at Hounslow’s civic centre to mark the run up to Armed Forces Day (29 June).

The Guardsmen – who are based at Hounslow barracks - will be joined by the Mayor of Hounslow Councillor Sachin Gupta, their Commanding Officer Lieutenant Colonel Dino Bossi and members for the Royal British Legion at a ceremony on Monday 24th June 2013 at 11am.

Councillor Gupta said: “Hounslow has a special link with the armed forces and we are proud to honour our brave servicemen and women who often put their lives on the line to defend our country and our freedom.”

Councillor Pritam Grewal, cabinet member for communications and communities said: “The armed forces are a part of the fabric of life in Hounslow and this is a great opportunity for the council and the public to express their solidarity with our soldiers.”

The service, which will be led by the 1 st Battalion Welsh Guards’ Padre, will take place in the member’s car park at the civic centre and will mark the raising of the Armed Forces Day flag.
