Hounslow Urges Locals To Make Airport Views Known

Community consultation on Heathrow Airport to be launched in April

Hounslow residents are being asked to make their voice heard over the issue of Heathrow’s potential expansion.

Hounslow Council is set to launch its biggest ever community consultation on Heathrow in April, which will ask residents the key questions on the airport, and crucially, whether they support expansion and a third runway. 

Councillor Colin Ellar, lead member for environment, said: “The council does not want Heathrow to close. But there are very serious questions over whether it should expand, and if it does, what the impact on the quality of life in the borough would be.” 

Around 11,000 Hounslow residents are employed at Heathrow with thousands more employed by businesses serving the airport. 

Hounslow is also the borough which suffers the worst environmental effects, with unacceptably high levels of noise (especially at night), pollution and traffic congestion because of Heathrow.   

Questionnaires will be sent to every household in the borough, beginning Monday 15 April. 

The Community Consultation will also be visiting libraries, shopping centres and other community facilities across the borough until the end of the consultation.  More details will be available closer to the time. 

The consultation will also be available to complete online at www.hounslow.gov.uk/heathrow 

The closing date for questionnaires to be completed is Thursday May 16.
