Lampton Leisure has partnered with Alzheimer’s and Dementia Care providers, Right At Home, to offer the events.

Paula Vincent, Health and Wellbeing Manager at Lampton Leisure, commented, “At Lampton Leisure we believe leisure centres should act as a health hub for the community and these Memory Cafés are designed to help support both people with dementia and their carers and families. We are excited to partner with Right At Home to ensure these sessions are really valuable for all attendees.”

Sanjay Vadhera of Right At Home, added, “In the UK, dementia is a pressing public health concern, affecting a significant portion of the population. According to recent statistics, around 940,000 people are living with dementia, with the numbers expected to rise as the population ages. It is one of the leading causes of death in the UK, with someone developing dementia every three minutes. The impact extends beyond individuals to families and caregivers, highlighting the urgent need for better support services, research, and awareness campaigns to address this growing issue. This highlights the importance of memory cafes in the community for people to meet and talk and get involved in some sort of verbal and non-verbal interaction.”
