600 Take Part in Summer Musical Spectacular

Local schools perform 'Joseph' at Fountains Leisure Centre

More than 600 pupils drew back the curtain at the Fountains Leisure Centre recently, to take part in a production of Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

The massed performance saw pupils from twenty four schools singing along with guest soloists and members of the Hounslow Youth Orchestra. The show was conducted by Angela Bennett, former head of Heston Community School, who visited all the participating schools to help prepare for the concert.

Cllr Robert Kinghorn, executive member for education and children at Hounslow Council said: “Everyone who saw it was impressed by the energy and enthusiasm of all the performers. “I would like to thank all those who took part in organising this performance - pupils and music teachers in schools, staff in the music service, and those such as Angela Bennett, Richard Walsh and Martin Dias who gave up their time to help put on a wonderful show.”

Mandy Lancy, head of Feltham Hill Junior, said, “It was a fabulous and it made me feel very proud to be a part of Hounslow schools. The value of it was evident in the children's faces as they were singing, they literally glowed with excitement and it will be a lasting memory for them.”
