Are You Brave Enough to Take the Zipwire Challenge?

Fly across Ravenscourt Park in aid of local primary school

Brave volunteers are wanted for a high wire challenge in Ravenscourt Park to raise money for St Peter's Primary School in Hammersmith.

The volunteers will fly down a 250metre-long and 40metre-high zipwire set up in the Hammersmith park on Saturday and Sunday July 4 and 5.

St Peter’s School, built in 1849, is currently spread over three sites, two which have been around since the Victorian period and another 1960s block. But now the teaching is being brought under one roof as the buildings are transformed and completely modernised.

Work at the school, in St Peter’s Road, is expected to be completed by September 2016 and has been paid for by Hammersmith & Fulham Council and the London Diocesan Board for Schools.

Now fundraising is underway by governors and the Friends of St Peter’s PTA to raise a further £300,000 for improvements including new computers, interactive white boards, and play and quiet spaces.

The Zipwire Challenge is part of the effort, with those taking part paying a £20 deposit and agreeing to raise at least £100 in sponsorship.

School governor Andrew Sparke says: " We would love people to come from far and wide, to get out there and get lots of sponsorship. It would mean a great deal to the school. They will be sent details of what time to come and they’ll be hurtling down the wire quicker than they thought."
