Kicking off two months of fun, fitness and culture in Lyric Square
Hammersmith's annual Summer Festival returns this weekend with the start of two months of free fun in the sun based around Lyric Square.
Run by HammersmithLondon, the Summer Festival offers theatre, live music, food and more. Here's what to expect in the weeks ahead:
Saturday 9 June, 2pm & 5pm - Tales of Joy
This Saturday, as part of the ArtFest programming, Tales of Joy brings the whole community, disabled and non-disabled, together in an integrated outdoor performance in Lyric Square directed by choreographer Wolfgang Stange. Find out more
Monday 11 June between 11am - 3pm - Bike check
Bring your bike to Lyric Square on Monday 11 June between 11am - 3pm for free bike security marking and Dr Bike maintenance checks. Find out more and book an appointment

Tuesday 26 June, Lyric Square, from 7pm - La Bohème, Big Screen Opera Live from the Royal Opera House
Watch Puccini’s passionate opera La Bohème. The opera tells the love story of Rodolfo, a penniless poet and Mimì, a seamstress. They fall passionately in love, but their happiness is threatened when Rodolfo learns that Mimì is gravely ill. Puccini’s romantic depiction of bohemian Paris, with memorable music and a love story drawn from everyday life, has captivated audiences around the world, making La bohème one of the best-loved of all operas.

The Royal Opera House will broadcast a spectacular performance of Don Giovanni, Mozart’s dazzling opera which follows the adventures of the serial seducer whose dangerous liaisons lead to dark and tragic consequences. Tragic and comic in turns, this is a story high with emotions of every sort, expressed to perfection through Mozart’s musical subtlety and human insight.
