Recycling message delivered to local schools
Children at primary schools across Hammersmith and Fulham have been delighted by the appearance of an unexpected guest at assembly - Recycler the rapping robot.
Recycler has been taking his funky interactive show and toe-tapping rap routine around schools to teach pupils and teachers about the three Rs - reducing, reusing and recycling.
Recycler, who is celebrating his 15th birthday this year, visited Wormholt Primary School in Shepherds Bush, St Pauls CE, St Augustines RC and Larmenier Primary Schools in Hammersmith, Addison and Avonmore Schools in West Kensington and Normand Croft, All Saints CE and Melcombe Primary Schools in Fulham.
The show, which comes from recycling campaign Recycle Western Riverside, is a fun way of showing children how they can reduce their waste at home and school.
Sarah Davis, a teacher from Larmenier and Sacred Heart Catholic Primary School says: " The children really enjoyed seeing a robot – it made the recycling message much more memorable."
Shirley Barre, Education Officer says: " Every household in the UK throws away over one tonne of waste each year and more than half of this could be recycled. A visit from Recycler is a great way for young people to learn about how important it is to reduce waste and to recycle as much as possible, at home and at school.
" Recycler performs a funky rap about recycling and everyone joins in – it’s a great way to remember important messages and take them home.”
