Residents Rally at Town Hall to Protest Council Cuts
A large rally is being held by local residents tonight, Thursday July 15 at 6.15pm outside Hammersmith Town Hall.
The rally, ahead of a Council Cabinet meeting at 7pm, is protesting against proposed cuts in funding to community and voluntary organisations across the borough.
Inside the meeting, there will be deputations from seven organisations appealing to the council to change their minds about the cost cutting measures, which will come into force from October and which include selling off premises and removing funding.
They are:
Shepherd's Bush Families Project, which is based at 58 Bulwer Street, better known locally as the Village Hall, which is among a list of nine buildings the council is proposing to sell to pay off its debts
SEAPIA, the Sands End Association Projects in Action, which runs a drop-in service for chiklren under five at the Sands End Playhouse in Fulham but has been told its funding of £94,000 a year is ending
The Iranian Association, one of 21 voluntary sector organisations based at Palingswick House in Hammersmith's King Street, which the council is also proposing to sell

Hammersmith and Fulham Refugee Forum
Local people are being urged to join the campaigners in King Street to make their voices heard.
