As mark of remembrance and solidarity on second anniversary of fire
Hammersmith Town Hall and our estates in Shepherd's Bush closest to Grenfell Tower are 'going green' once again as a mark of remembrance and solidarity on the second anniversary of the devastating fire.
For a second year, Hammersmith & Fulham Council say they are working together with local residents to remember those who lost their by illuminating the town hall today, Friday 14 June.
Three tower blocks on the Edward Woods Estate are also illuminated with green lighting last night and tonight.
H&F Council is also holdina a minute's silence to remember the victims, and flying the Grenfell flag at Hammersmith Town Hall during the period of remembrance.
More than 50 families were housed in temporary accommodation in the borough following the fire and teams from the housing and social care departments visited the families each week, making sure they had vouchers for hot meals, travelcards and that they were receiving the support they needed – and in some cases family members, friends and neighbours.
Cllr Stephen Cowan, Leader of the London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham, said: "Two years on from the devastating tragedy of the Grenfell Tower fire, the shrouded remains remind us daily that compassion and respect for all human life is fundamental.
"We stand shoulder to shoulder with everyone who has suffered as a result of this tragedy."
