The Green School Plans To Open For Boys

Isleworth Church of England girl's school wants to expand

The Green School for Girls in Isleworth is planning to open a school for Boys. The Governors of the school at Busch Corner say that they want to open The Green School for Boys in September 2015 and want to hear the views of prospective parents and the local community.

Pam Butterfield, the Green School for Girls’ Headteacher, said: “We want to hear from parent of boys currently in years three and four. We have been told for a long time that parents want a boys’ Church of England school in this area. Now we have the opportunity to open one.”

The new school – which will be opened under the Free School Programme – will replicate the education already offered at the Green School for Girls, which produces high academic standards and is based on Christian values, inclusion, mutual care and respect for others. The Green School for Boys – which will be a 11-18 comprehensive – would welcome boys who are Christians as well as boys of other faiths and no faith. It would share the values of The Green School – which was judged outstanding in its last Ofsted – and would work hard to develop a distinctive approach to meet the particular needs of boys.

John Beastall, Chairman of the Governors at The Green School, said: “As part of the application process the governors need to be able to show that The Green School for Boys would be popular with parents and people in the West London area and with local business and organisations. So we would encourage you to get in touch and find out more.”

Various sites are being looked at for The Green School for Boys but under the Free School Programme the exact location will not be confirmed until permission has been given. The Governors hope it will be within a 10 minute walk from the Green School for Girls.
