Travel Unravelled for 4-16 yrs

Travel Unravelled

Journey through creative workshops and free drop in activities for young people and their families. The theme is travel and over 3 weeks there will be fun and inspiration. Using ditigial coding, textile design, visual art and music, every workshop and drop in activity will help transform the Gallery into a brand new exhibition celebrating the creativity of the young people who have taken part.

Tue 15 Aug, 10am, 11am and 12 noon
Age: 4-8 years
Running time: 50 minutes
Make A 3D Boat
Design and create your own miniature 3D boat sculpture out of cardboard, wood pieces, paper and cloth. Decorate it with images from an imaginary journey – draw, paint or make a collage. Hang your boat in the Gallery as part of our exhibition… or take it home with you if you prefer.
Please note adults must accompany all children aged 8 and under. Adults do not require a ticket.

Thu 17 Aug, 10am and 11am
Age: 4-8 years
Running time: 50 minutes
Moving Drawbots
Make and decorate a moving robot that will draw you a picture! Using everyday craft and art resources including paper cups, googly eyes, pens and lots of masking tape children and adults will make their own moving robot that draws and is powered by a fizzbit. Participants will be able to take home their creations apart from the fizzbits, or purchase the fizzbit for an additional £5.
Please note adults must accompany all children aged 8 and under. Adults do not require a ticket.

FOR AGES 8 – 12 YEARS

Tue 15 Aug, 1pm – 4.30pm
Age: 8-12 years
Running time: 210 minutes
Talking Drawings
Participants will create travel themed drawings which they can then make interactive so that when they are touched they make a sound! Using the Scratch progamme, their imagination and voices they can programme their own drawings. They could be then added to the boat to make an awesome sound installation. No experience necessary.
Please note that adults do not need to accompany children for this workshop. However, all children must have a signed parent consent form in order to attend.

Wed 16 Aug, 1pm – 4.30pm
Age: 8-12years
Running time: 210 minutes
Robot Vehicles
However you like to travel, create a mini replica and make it move! Children will create a vehicle using arts and crafts materials and using BBC Micro:bit they’ll programme it to move and do amazing things!
Please note that adults do not need to accompany children for this workshop. However, all children must have a signed parent consent form in order to attend.
