Trackside - A new gallery opening on Churchfield Road

Trackside is an exciting new gallery and workshop space, which opened in November, at Acton Central. The gallery exhibits the latest, and best, in jewellery, art and craft. The opening exhibition, Acton Essential, includes jewellery, art, sculpture, handbags and craft. The style of the pieces is contemporary. All exhibits are offered for sale, and commissions are most welcome.

Trackside Gallery is situated opposite Acton Central mainline station. It is light, airy and spacious, offering a wonderful exhibition space. The gallery is a living space, featuring jewellery and craft workshop space. The building itself was once the estate office for the Goldsmiths Estate, so it is fitting that has regained its former link with the London jewellery trade.

Trackside is run by Louise Richards, who is both a jeweller, specialising in enamelling, and artist. Louise is a graduate of the Sir John Cass faculty, at Metropolitan University, and winner of a Worshipful Company of Goldsmiths award for enamelling. She is keen to represent local artists and encourages artistic development by offering low cost workshop space. Louise welcomes you to the gallery opening and looks forward to meeting you on your first visit.

Louise would like the gallery to have a good mix of affordable contemporary art and plans to feature different artists each quarter.

Many of the jewellers and artists featured in the current exhibition are fellow graduates:

Elizabeth Zimmerer is a textile and fashion designer, from Germany, producing detailed, and unique, handbags and scarves, created from fabrics ranging from upholstery cloth to fine silks.

Bob Schiff is a sculptor using metal and wood to create animated animal forms that are full of character.

Lisa Bonniface is an artist working with glass producing highly individual glass pieces that can be hung on the wall or used as bowls.

Teiko Muto and Umo Tamami are graduates of Sir John Cass, producing intricate jewellery with a strong contemporary feel.

Also, we are featuring sculptors from Zimbabwe, who specialise stone carving. One piece, in particular, is the Bathing Medusa. Carved from a single piece of white dolomite, it looks stunning in the gallery, especially when the sun picks out the glistening quartz crystals.
