Week of art, crafts, music and fun, kicks off with infamous dog show

A week of art, crafts, music and fun, kicks off with the infamous Dog Show Fair and a chance to win some amazing prizes.

The Summer Fair and Dog Show

Saturday June 21st, 10.30am-4pm
In St Peter’s Square, Hammersmith, W6

Our traditional village green summer fete has attractions for all the family, including your dog!.

For the children we have Active Kids and Gymboree providing exercise and fun for all ages, candy floss, ice cream, tombolas and side stalls packed with fun and games galore!

There is a wide selection of refreshments, including a Pimms tent, cream teas and coffees (provided by Starbucks), cake stall, jams, preserves and chutneys.

Other stalls sell plants, toys, books, cds, Bric-a-Brac etc with many ‘professional businesses’ also taking part, selling jewellery, clothing, gifts, arts and crafts to name but a few.

The programme magazine will be on sale for just £1, covering all of the Festival events, great articles, money off coupons and also an entry into the Free Prize Draw, which promises some fantastic prizes!

Now the song ‘Mad Dogs and Englishmen go out in the midday sun’ must have been written with the St Peters Dog Show in mind, as it provides all comers with 5 hours of non-stop entertainment. Whether you’re a pet owner, dog lover or just a passer by, you will not be able to resist stopping in your tracks to watch the fun unfurl….remember, never work with children or animals, of which this show has both.

Registration takes place at 10.30am and from 11am, there will be an Egg and Spoon Race, Scruffiest Dog in the Square and the Junior Handler (under 12s) competitions.

After lunch, there follows the Fancy Dress Parade, Best OAP Pooch and the ever popular Seven Legged Race, with the Best In Show prize being awarded at the end of the day.

This day rivals Crufts and brings serious dog owners as well as more local amateurs to the event. Pet Care are once again sponsoring the Dog Show and giving their time to oversee proceedings.

St Peter’s Festival Art Exhibition

From Saturday June 21st, 10.00am until Sunday June 29th
In St Peter’s Church, Black Lion Lane, Hammersmith, W6

For the past several years, St Peter’s church has been running a delightful art exhibition as part of the Festival Week.

The artists are mainly local and offer an interesting variety of paintings. Last year there were a number of attractive watercolours and oil paintings of local views as Hammersmith, Chiswick, Kew and Richmond offer a plethora of stunning views and attractive buildings which our artists have portrayed in individual and unusual styles.

We also include works from artists with a more modern approach, who add colour and excitement and turn ordinary subjects into intriguing works of art.

The paintings are not expensive and make ideal presents for weddings or special birthdays, or maybe you still have space on your walls for more paintings and here at St Peter’s, you are bound to find something to your taste. Just come and browse and enjoy.

Open evening with music, wine and canapés
June 23rd 6.30-8.30 pm (entrance free)

The art exhibition will be open at various times during the Festival week and all day during the Dog Show.

The Mass will feature 4 outstanding young soloists, all of who are currently working for major opera companies both in England, Europe and further abroad. The performance of the St Peter’s Festival Orchestra never fails to capture the imagination of its listeners and this concert promises to be no different.

Chamber Recital

Vocal Recital

Perhaps the first all Australian performance Hammersmith has seen for a while, Katja and Steven will present and evening of song. Fresh from their studies together at the National Opera Studio, Katja and Steven have already proven their worth as a team. “Katja Webb held the stage by herself… and was fortunate in the superb support she received from pianist Steven Moore. The expression ‘life-enhancing’ comes to mind.” (Review from Lunchtime recital at National Opera Studio, Oct 07).

Tickets £10 (£8 concession). Please book in advance through Parish Office
Bar and refreshments available before recital begins
