Zaha Hadid - Architectural Superstar

Colin Davies is Professor of Architectural Theory is to give a talk entitled Zaha Hadid – Architectural Superstar as part of the series by the The Arts Society Chiswick.

Former editor of Architects’ Journal and contributor to magazines worldwide, his published books are - Thinking About Architecture, Key Houses of the Twentieth Century, The Prefab Home, High Tech Architecture and monographs on work of Foster, Hopkins & Grimshaw.

Dame Zaha Hadid died on 31 March 2016 at the age of 65. Professor Davies believes architectural historians of the future will recognise her as one of the most important architects of the early 21st century.

She was born in Iraq and her reputation was global, but she made Britain her home. This lecture tells the story of her career from the visionary projects of the 1980s, through the years of frustration when her designs were considered unbuildable, to the prolific crop of successful projects built all over the world in the last decade of her life.

The lecture starts at 8pm on Thursday 10 May in the Malinova Room at The Polish Centre (POSK), 238-246 King Street, Hammersmith, W6 0RF. All are welcome and you are encouraged to arrive early to join the rest of the audience for a pre-lecture drink. Tickets cost £8 for non-members.
