Pay What You Can

Come see Brentford v Shrewsbury for a minimal pound or more

Following the success of Brentford FC’s ground-breaking and charity fund-raising ‘Pay What You Can’ ticketing initiative last season, the Club will be running it again next month for the Sky Bet League One match against Shrewsbury Town on Saturday October 26..

Under the ‘Pay What You Can’ initiative advance match tickets for Brentford fans are sold at the price the supporter is able to pay.

The minimum price for a ticket is £1 and every ticket, whether for adult, senior, student or junior, in The Bees United Stand, The BIAS Stand and The Bill Axbey Stand is up for sale, except those already taken by Season Ticket Holders.

When The Bees played Stevenage in an npower League One fixture last season every advance ticket in home areas was sold on a ‘Pay What You Can’ basis.

The game was originally due to be played in December but was postponed. Due to the offer, more than 7,000 turned up for the rearranged match on a cold Tuesday night in February and they watched The Bees win 2-0. In total, more than 10,000 tickets were sold for the fixture.

Money will also be raised for charity at the same time as when more than £5 is paid for a ticket, 50 per cent of the excess, excluding VAT, will be donated to the charity Sport Relief.

Mark Devlin, Brentford FC Chief Executive, said: “When we first announced this initiative last year we thought it was the first time it had been tried at Football League level.

“It was an undoubted success and everyone, from the owner Matthew Benham down, was keen to try it again. It is great that we have been able to find a suitable date and a suitable fixture.

“This is the third home game in four Saturdays and comes at the time of the school half term holiday. Everyone is well aware that this can stretch the finances. We hope that with this pricing, our supporters who would struggle to afford to attend will be able to do so.

“And, those who are in a position to pay a bit more will be doing their bit for charity.“There will also, hopefully, be new faces inside Griffin Park and we welcome them.

“Griffin Park has been a fantastic place to watch football for the past few years. Manager Uwe Rösler has put together an exciting, attacking team and there have been some memorable afternoons and evenings. Hopefully this will be another one.

“We anticipate a high demand for tickets and we hope we can sell out all home areas.”

Tickets are on sale now and will be limited to six per person.
Tickets will be available from the Club’s Ticket Office at Griffin Park, which is open from 10am until 4pm Monday to Friday.
They can bought in person or ordered by telephone on 0845 3456 442 – option 4.

All tickets in The Bees United Stand and The BIAS Stand will be for allocated seats in order to maximise the potential attendance. The ‘Pay What You Can’ offer is available for advance tickets only and will not be available in the away end. If any tickets remain they will be sold on the turnstiles at normal match day prices.
