Audley Harrison fight to be held at Brentford Fountains Leisure Centre

Olympic Champion to fight Rob Calloway but Frank Warren says the public are being conned by a one-sided mismatch

Audley Harrisons opponent for his ninth professional contest at Brentford Fountain Leisure Centre on Saturday 8th February 2003 will be Americas Rob Calloway.

The Leisure Centre bid for the fight against larger venues such as Wembley Arena and will have a capacity of 1,400. Tickets are on sale now ranging from £25 to £60 (Box office 020 8994 9596. The centre has recently been criticised for lack of cleanliness and the high charges that users are forced to pay. A recent report showed that they were the sixth highest in the country.

The fight itself is already generating controversy with accusations that, once again, Harrison has selected an easy opponent. His previous eight victories coming against relative unknowns.

Colin McMillan, Harrisons Boxing Advisor commented, In Rob Calloway, Audley faces an opponent who is the current WBF Intercontinental Heavyweight Champion, who has an impressive record of 44 wins and only 3 defeats. With over 10 years of professional expertise, 10 championship fights and 32 knockouts, Calloway looks certain to be a credible and difficult opponent.

Calloway hails from St. Joseph, Missouri USA; stands at 6ft 3ins and is 33 years of age.

Rival promoter Frank Warren criticsed the match claiming that Calloway was a not as good as current British heavyweights. Warren wants Harrison to fight either his own heavyweight hopeful, John McDermott, or the British champion, Danny Williams. He said: "It's time for Harrison to put up or shut up - why doesn't he fight McDermott or Williams? He said he would be British champion within five fights, but he's not even fought for an area title. That's because he's not fought over 10 or 12 rounds, and the public are being constantly conned by these one-sided mismatches."

The Undercard line up for the show includes Nicky Cook challenging for his first major title (Commonwealth Featherweight Championship) against Zimbabwes Mishek Kondwane. Interestingly the February 8th show at Brentford sees Bristols Adrian Stone having his first fight back in the UK since losing to Shane Mosley.

The show will be shown live on BBC 1.
