Carolyn & Peter Hammond - A Chiswick House Inventory of 1811

The Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society are hosting and event on Monday 17 November 2014, 7.30pm at the Chiswick Memorial Club, Bourne Place, W4.

There will be an illustrated talk by Carolyn & Peter Hammond, authors of Life in an Eighteenth Century Country House.

The 6th Duke of Devonshire (National Trust)

When the sixth Duke of Devonshire inherited Chiswick House in 1811 he commissioned an inventory of its contents. This talk uses the details in the inventory to reconstruct the house as the home of the Duke, his guests and his servants.

The Society's talks usually take place on the third Monday of the month. They meet at the Chiswick Memorial Club, Afton House, Bourne Place, Chiswick W4, starting at 7.30pm. Remember that Afton House does not open until 7pm.
