Brentford and Chiswick Local History Society Meeting

An illustrated talk on Sir Stephen Fox’s Garden

The next meeting of the Brentford & Chiswick Local History Society will be on 17 February at 7.30pm at the Chsiwick Memorial Club.

Sir Stephen Fox’s Garden in Chiswick is the subject of an illustrated talk by Sally Jeffery, a garden historian who has researched the late 17th-century house and garden which adjoined Chiswick House.

This estate was purchased by the Duke of Devonshire and added to the grounds of Chiswick House just over 200 years ago; though the house has gone you can still see the walled gardens north of the conservatory.

The Society's talks usually take place on the third Monday of the month. They meet at the Chiswick Memorial Club, Afton House, Bourne Place, Chiswick W4, starting at 7.30pm. Remember that Afton House does not open until 7pm.
