Art Buyer Selects Prize Sculpture

After winning Fletcher’s Artists At Home draw

ARTISTS AT HOME (AAH) celebrated its 35th anniversary this year when 51 artists in the area invited the public into their homes or studios over the weekend of 13-15 June.

The Fletchers Art Buyers Prize was a prize draw which Artists at Home introduced three years ago, in an attempt to get visitors to be more adventurous when visiting open studios over the weekend.

If they visited ten or more studios, and had their studio guides validated by the artists concerned, they could enter a prize draw. The prize was a token worth £150 to be spent on a piece of artwork by any of the participating artists.

This year, the lucky winner was Ulpu Halttunen and she chose a sculpture by Pam Hardenburg who lives in the Chiswick Park area, where she also has her studio. Pam is an established sculptor who also teaches at the Richmond Adult Education Centre and is an international external examiner. This is her second year of showing with Artists at Home.

Mrs Halttunen, from Finland, is delighted with her win and added: "Artists at Home is a great idea. It is such an easy way for the public to connect with local artists and see a good variety of art in an intimate environment, the artists' homes."
