Ealing and Hillingdon Green Parties have selected Sarah Edwards as their candidate for the Greater London Authority elections on May 1st.

This is the second time that Sarah has stood as the candidate for the Ealing and Hillingdon constituency. She has also represented the party in local council and parliamentary elections.

Sarah has lived in Chiswick's Rusthall Avenue for 10 years. She is employed by a national charity as coordinator for a national service for victims of crime. Sarah been active in the green movement for many years, campaigning on both social justice and environmental issues. She was a founder member of a recycling co-op in West London and has been coordinator of a Friends of the Earth group. A member of Amicus union, Sarah has served as a workplace union representative.

Sarah Edwards said: “There is so much that can and should be done to make London a healthier, safer and more affordable place to live. I will be promoting the Green Party’s positive solutions to tackle the many challenges Londoners face, which include spiralling housing and fuel costs, increasing traffic, threats to green spaces and loss of civil liberties. Our policies will address the biggest threat of all - catastrophic climate change.

Sarah continued “The most immediate challenge is to stop the expansion at Heathrow. It would be devastating in terms of noise and air pollution and destruction of homes; and it would totally undermine our efforts to cut greenhouse gas emissions".
