Stay of Execution for Butterfly House

Popular attraction granted another year until closure

Just days away from its planned closure the London Butterfly House in Syon Park has been given a reprieve.

Due to a delay in the building of the 4 star hotel that was to take over its site, the popular local attraction no longer needs to shut its doors at the end of this month as previously announced.

The Duke of Northumberland has granted a lease for it to stay trading until October 31st 2007. Radisson Edwardian will not start building their hotel at Syon until Autumn 2007.

The owner of the Butterfly House, Michael Crosse, now has a chance to continue his search to find an alternative location. Previous attempts to move to Gunnersbury Park and Chiswick House Grounds proved to be unsuccessful.

He said, "We wish to thank everyone for their continued support it has undoubtedly been reassuring to know many people are as concerned about the welfare and future of The London Butterfly House as we are. To date we have had 8,500 signatures to our petition and the numbers are still growing each time adding a voice to our appeal for help."
