More Children Get First Choice High School

Ealing Council secondary admission results

There's been an increase in the number of children in Ealing who have been offered a place at one of their top top three preferred high school places this year.

The Council say nearly 70% got into their favoured school - compared to 66% last year and around 88% got one of their first three choices (83% in 2012).

The council has made 3,301 offers, 77 more than last year, and say every Ealing child who applied on time has been offered a place.

The new William Perkins High School, Greenford, will welcome its first pupils this September. This opening means that more children from primary schools in the north of the borough will have be able to attend an Ealing high school than in previous years.

Councillor Patricia Walker, cabinet member for children and young people, said: “This time of year can be an anxious one for parents and children preparing to make the move to high school and I’m pleased that so many of them will be receiving the news they were hoping for.

“Despite the number of applications to our high schools increasing year or year, we have made an offer to every family that applied on time and nine out of 10 have been offered one of their top three schools. I wish all of our young people well as they make this important move.”

Parents who have not received an offer from their preferred school are advised to accept the school they have been offered. The council’s admissions service will automatically place them on the waiting list for schools that were higher up in their preference to the one offered.

Families of students who are due to start high school in September 2013 and who have not yet applied for a school place, should contact the School Admissions service on 020 8825 5522 immediately as their application is now late.
