The A40 was blocked this morning at Gypsy Corner leading to static traffic along the Westway this Wednesday morning (27 October).

Protestors blocked the road westbound in North Acton by sitting in the road. A similar protest was started at the same time at the Dartford Crossing.

The police say they were at the scene by 9.55am and arrested 17 people six of whom had glued themselves to the ground. Specialist units attended to unglue them.

Earlier the Insulate Britain group has warned drivers to avoid the M25 or reduce their speed to 20mph because it planned to make it "a site of nonviolent civil resistance to stop our government committing crimes against humanity". It is understood that Kent Police prevented an attempt by a group to obstruct traffic on the motorway.

This is the fifteenth time the group has blocked roads in the last six weeks. It is the second time they have protested on the A40 after stopping traffic near the Hanger Lane Gyratory on 8 October.
