Looking to contest wards across the borough in May 2022
September 23, 2021
A non-affiliated political group is looking to make an impact on next year’s council elections in Ealing by contesting as many wards as possible
Ealing Independents, the party founded in February 2021 by Ealing resident Leslie Bunder is now seeking candidates to stand in May 2022
The plan is that the group will have candidates in Acton, Ealing, Greenford, Hanwell, Northolt, Perivale, and Southall.
Residents who would like to stand as a candidate can email their interest to hello@EalingIndependents.com or call 07862 748611.
Ealing Independents has also become a founding member of the Independents In London (www.Independents.London) network which helps to encourage and support the growth of independent candidates and parties taking part in London local elections.
Ealing Independents says its candidates will give residents something that national political parties do not offer – elected councillors putting the interests of residents ahead of their own self-interest or national party interest.
It is to create what as it describes as the borough’s first and only people’s manifesto which involves Ealing Independents listening to residents and local businesses across the borough to develop policies.
All residents in Ealing are invited to submit their thoughts of their priorities for a better Ealing at firstname.lastname@example.org where the party says it will read every email and listen to the feedback.
It says that the Labour Party in Ealing have failed residents in multiple ways including the handling of the Southall gasworks development, not paying school catering staff a Living Wage until obliged to by campaigners and poorly engaging with residents over transport measures. It also accuses them of giving permission to tower blocks across the borough and unnecessarily closing recycling facilities.
Members of opposition parties in Ealing borough have criticised the Ealing Independents for not offering a viable alternative and they claim its existence will split the vote of those wishing for a change of council.
