Figures from GCSE results show borough is make highest progress
New figures show that schools in Ealing have improved their GCSE progress results - reported to be the highest in the country.
Ealing Council say across the borough, the Attainment 8 score, which measures the average achievement of pupils in up to eight subjects, was 50.8.
The proportion of students achieving a standard pass (4+) in English and maths is provisionally 71.8%, up 2.4% points compared to last year’s figure and 7% points above the 2019 provisional national figure of 64%.
Twyford has the highest proportion of children achieving a standard pass in English and Maths at 90%. Ten of 14 schools improved on their combined English and Maths standard pass 2018 figure. The biggest improvements in English and Maths standard pass rates were at Dormers Wells (+12% pts), Brentside and Greenford (+6% pts) and Northolt (+7% pts).
The proportion of children achieving a strong pass (5+) in English and maths is provisionally 53.4%, which is up 1.2% pts since last year and 10% pts more than the 2019 provisional national average. Twyford was the highest performing school with 77% achieving a strong pass in English and Maths. The biggest improvements since 2018 were at Brentside (+7% pts) and Dormers (+8% pts). Nine of 14 schools provisionally improved their 5+ performance since 2018.
Eleven of 14 Ealing secondary schools have a provisional positive progress 8 score significantly above the national average, with the highest scores at William Perkin (1.32) and Villiers (1.09).

“It is a tremendous achievement and a testament to the level of instruction in our schools and how hard both students and teachers are working.”
