A fire involving three vans at the rear of a disused office building on Lakeside Drive in Park Royal prompted a large-scale emergency response on Sunday evening (21 September).
Eight fire engines and approximately 60 firefighters attended the scene after the London Fire Brigade received the first call at 6:24pm. Crews from Park Royal, Wembley, Acton, Ealing, and Willesden fire stations were deployed. The fire was brought under control by 7:37pm.
The vans were completely destroyed in the blaze, which also damaged two single-storey units and a small section of the building’s external façade. One man was treated at the scene for burns and subsequently taken to hospital.
Station Commander Mick Palmer, who was present during the incident, said the fire generated heavy smoke, resulting in 32 emergency calls to the Brigade’s control centre. “Due to the smoke, local residents were advised to shut their doors and windows,” he added.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
