Backing for Watch Recruitment Drive

Councillors attend meeting in Southfield Ward

Two local councillors Gary Malcolm and Harvey Rose attended a recent public meeting with the Southfield ward neighborhood police team. The aim was to encourage residents to sign up as Neighbourhood Watch members. Southfield ward covers the parts of Chiswick which are in the London Borough of Ealing

The Liberal Democrat councillors and other members of the public in attendance also heard about crime prevention measures, fire safety advice over Christmas and Smart Water which is used to invisibly identify property such as jewelry to enable stolen goods to be handed back to their owner when found.

Cllr Gary Malcolm said: “It was great to see the local police team with the Council’s crime reduction officer. Lib Dems think for too long has local Neighbourhood Watch groups been allowed to dwindle. I hope that many of the residents who attended will become active in new Neighbourhood Watch teams.”

He said he would be using the Smart Water given to him by the police to keep his valuables safe

The meeting took place at 7.30pm at St. Peter’s Church Hall, Southfield Rd, on 19th November.

The local Southfield police team now has 5 members – it used to have 3 but has recently recruited 2 new PCSOs.
