Apprentices Sought For Ealing Council

Deadline approaching for new recruits

Ealing Council's looking for apprentices to fill a number of placements across the organisation.

Applicants must l be British or EU passport holders, or have indefinite leave to remain in the UK. They must also live, or be educated, in Ealing.

All Ealing apprenticeship placements are for one year, some with an option to continue for a second. Apprentices receive training and mentoring, as well as a generous allowance that eventually rises to the level of the London Living Wage in the last half of their second year.

Maaria Khalil, web and communications apprentice, at Ealing Council said: “I can honestly say that choosing an apprenticeship was the best decision I could have made. I left school with good qualifications, but I knew that university wasn’t for me and taking on an apprenticeship with Ealing Council has given me the opportunity to work, while carrying on with my studies.

“Some of my friends are going to leave uni with tens of thousands of pounds of debt, but I’ve been earning while I’ve been learning on the job and have some brilliant, quality work experience to put on my CV.”

Councillor Peter Mason, cabinet member for prosperity, skills, employment and transformation, said: "We want everyone in Ealing to be able to get a decent job that comes with a decent income, so it’s vital that all our young people get the opportunity to develop their skills and train for the jobs of the future.

“Apprenticeships provide unrivalled on the job training which can lead to a lifelong career. We consistently get fantastic candidates applying, and many of them go on to become permanent employees after their apprenticeship is over."

All of the council’s current apprenticeship vacancies can be found at www.ealing.gov.uk/jobs.

The deadline for appicants is 30th April
