Angie Bray's New Year Message

Ealing Central and Acton Conservative MP looks forward to 2015

As we look back on the last 12 months and also forward to 2015, it’s fair to say that whilst many challenges lie ahead, we are heading in the right direction.

We seem to be in the midst of a quiet revolution of small businesses and entrepreneurs doing really well not just here in West London, but all over the country. In my constituency of Ealing Central and Acton alone, the number of people out of work and claiming jobseekers’ allowance has fallen by 21% in the last year. That really suggests a lot of people whose future has got a lot brighter.

Apprenticeship schemes continue to be a huge success, giving a first break into work for so many young people.

There is much more to be done of course and we must make sure we have the school places, homes and healthcare we need. We need to keep cutting bureaucracy and investing in front line services. Still there is much to look forward to. For one thing I’m already looking forward to the third year of the Ealing Music and Film Festival – such a great celebration of our cultural heritage.

I’d like to wish everyone a happy and peaceful 2015. I hope you have had the chance to have well deserved rest and time to spend with family and friends and I look forward to working hard for all my constituents in Ealing, Acton and Chiswick in the coming year.
