Family feared father might die after being hit by motorbike

A new appeal is being made by the family of Jagjit Sandhu who was hit by a motorbike on Popes Lane near Gunnersbury Park towards the end of last year.
The focus remains on a good Samaritan who helped in the immediate aftermath of the crash and who may have key information to help with the investigation.
The collision, which took place as Mr Sandhu was crossing the road near the junction with Gunnersbury Drive at around 1.38pm on 3 December, has left the 77-year-old man from Ealing with a brain injury and multiple fractures. His family feared initially that he might not survive after he was taken by ambulance to St Mary's Hospital for emergency surgery.
He remained for several weeks in ICU but now Mr Sandhu's daughter, Parminder, says that her father undergoing intense rehabilitation in the Wellington Hospital and is doing well considering the severity of his injuries.
Mr Sandhu, who is well-known around his neighbourhood, was walking his Golden Retriever, Charlie, along the same route he covered most days.
After his wife Sukhdarshan arrived at the scene, Mr Sandhu, recognising the severity of his accident, thought he was dying and told her to ring their children so he could say his final goodbyes.
'He is sitting up in bed and talking and laughing with us all again, which is a huge relief. He has a long way to go but we know he is getting better as he's determined to get back to his favourite pastimes - communicating on Tiktok and YouTube with all his friends and family", she said.
Immediately after the collision, Jagjit asked a witness at the scene to inform his wife of his accident. He was concerned that Charlie was still at the groomers and needed to let his family know what had happened.
The witness who was driving a blue Hyundai Ioniq, rang the doorbell of Mr Sandhu's house to say he had seen the motorbike hit Mr Sandhu but, in the confusion, the family did not get his name. He very kindly drove Sukhdarshan to the scene and remained there until the services arrived.
"We would really appreciate this very considerate man getting back in touch. We're so grateful for his help that allowed us to see our dad at such a key time. His evidence will help our father's case and could help greatly with his rehabilitation.
"There is a way to go, but we're all feeling much more positive about his recovery."

According to Parminder, her father knew all his neighbours and is considered the 'dad' of the neighbourhood, much loved alongside his wife and as well as his faithful companion, Charlie.
"He has had so many messages of prayers and support from all around the world. It has meant a huge amount to him and massively helped with his recovery. Any help from witnesses would be appreciated by all of us, especially Jagjit, who has a long road to recovery ahead of him," she said.
