Centre’s funding sustained for another three years

The latest funding plans from the Arts Council include continued support for the Watermans in Brentford. At a time when the Arts Council is seeing funding from Government being cut, Watermans has been successful in its bid and maintained funding at £100,000 per year for the next three years. This comes after Watermans successfully led the Creative People and Places consortium in 2013 that was successful in securing three years’ funding from the Arts Council, representing an additional £300,000 per year.

The Arts Council has announced its plans for the next three year period from (2015-2018) and outlined the list of organisations who will continue to receive funding as a national portfolio organisation (NPO).

In particular, the Arts Council recognised that Watermans was ‘increasingly recognised on an international stage due to its pioneering work in digital arts and engagement, diverse led practice and outdoor arts’.

At present, the gallery is home to the installation, Longitude, a joint commission as part of LIFT (London International Festival of Theatre).

Jan Lennox, Director at Watermans said, ‘We are delighted that the Arts Council recognises the benefits that arts investment brings to Hounslow and that we will continue to be able to plan long term to bring quality arts into the borough’.

Watermans is run as a social enterprise and is a charitable trust presenting an arts, cinema, visual arts, performance and participative programme. It is the only such combined arts centre in West London.
