Hussain Osman extradited from Italy to face conspiracy charges
A man wanted in connection with the alleged attempted terrorist attack in London on July 21 is en route from Italy to the UK and will arrive later today (Thursday 22nd September).
Hussain Osman, aged 27, has been extradited by the Italian authorities following his arrest in Rome under a European Arrest Warrant on July 29 2005. The warrant was issued at Bow Street Magistrates Court and was sent, via NCIS, to the Italian authorities the same day.
Officers from the MPS Extradition Unit are accompanying Osman on the flight from Italy.
On his arrival in the UK, officers from the MPS Anti-Terrorist Branch will arrest Osman on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder and alleged offences under the Explosive Substances Act 1883.
Osman, of no fixed abode, will be taken to a central London police station where he will be formally charged. He will remain in custody and appear at Bow Street Magistrates Court sitting at Belmarsh tomorrow (23rd September 2005).
Hussain Osman, a UK citizen of Ethiopian origin, was captured on CCTV cameras on the 220 bus leading to his arrest in Italy. He was named back in July by the Italian foreign ministry as the man who unsuccessfully tried to blow himself up at Shepherd's Bush
