Commuter Hell on South West Trains

Two major disruptions on local services this Thursday evening

South West Trains passengers returning home this Thursday evening (14 July) experienced severe disruption due to problems on two separate sections of the line.

Due to urgent repairs between Brentford and Hounslow the westbound line was blocked. Train services running through these stations wer cancelled, delayed or diverted via Richmond.

Damage caused to the railway line this morning means that engineers needed to make urgent repairs to the railway line. This meant that trains were unable to run between Syon Lane and Hounslow in the Hounslow-bound direction. South West Trains say they don’t know what caused the damage and are investigating.

In addition due to a signalling problem between Clapham Junction and London Waterloo trains were running at reduced speed on some lines. Train services were cancelled, delayed by up to 15 mins or revised.

An earlier fault to signalling systems has been partially rectified and engineers are continuing to work to fix the issue on Thursday evening.

Trains were unable to call at Queenstown Road in the London-bound direction as a result of this problem, and customers at Queenstown Road were advised to travel to Clapham Junction and change there.
