Ealing Sporting Heroes

Ealing residents have until 30 April 2018 nominate their sporting heroes for the 2018 Ealing Sports Awards.

Everyone who nominates will automatically be put forward for a prize draw to win a year’s Everyone Active leisure centre membership.

All nine of the award categories are inclusive, and open to any club, organisation, group, association, partnership or individual based in the borough.

The categories are:

•           Junior Club of the Year
•           Sports Club of the Year
•           Coach of the Year
•           Adult Volunteer of the Year
•           Junior Volunteer of the Year
•           Outstanding Contribution to Sport Award
•           Inclusive and Active Award
•           Adult Sports Person of the Year
•           Junior Sports Person of the Year

People can make nominations in more than one category and the same sportsperson can be nominated in multiple categories. Those who were nominated or shortlisted last year can be nominated again.

Councillor Bassam Mahfouz, cabinet member for transport, environment and leisure said: “There is a thriving sports scene in the borough with a huge number of grass roots clubs doing amazing work to encourage people to get involved in sport, stay active and healthy.

“I’m delighted we’re able to host these awards to showcase their amazing efforts and recognise their contribution to their communities. I’d encourage all residents involved in sports in the borough to make sure they nominate local sporting heroes.

“There is still plenty of time to submit nominations in and I encourage everyone to make sure that none of our dedicated local athletes, coaches, volunteers or sports clubs miss out on the recognition that they richly deserve.

“We want to hear the best sporting stories the borough has to offer - from hardworking volunteers of all ages through to those who go the extra mile to help bring sport to local people in our Inclusive and Active Award.”

Phil Edwards, Everyone Active contract manager said: “We are proud to sponsor the Ealing Sports Awards once again to recognise the many amazing clubs and individuals we have here in Ealing.

“Everyone Active is committed to providing a range of opportunities for people of all ages and abilities to be more active within their local community, and we’re delighted to be working with Ealing Council to celebrate those who also share this passion. We highly encourage our local community to get involved my nominating their local sporting heroes.”
