Greenwich Leisure to take over local pools
Ealing Council has replaced controversial management company Leisure Connection and given Greenwich Leisure the contract to run local sports facilities including Acton Swimming Baths and the Gurnell Leisure Centre. They will take over running the pools on 1st November as part of a long-term partnership with Ealing Council. Over the next 12 years £3mn of investment has been promised in local sports facilities.
The Council say that the new contract has a strong focus on performance targets, including increasing participation, customer satisfaction, consistency in cleaning standards and delivery of maintenance works. The targets will be reviewed on an annual basis.
Cllr Nigel Sumner, cabinet member for health and community well being, said, "GLL displays a strong commitment to social inclusion and customer-focussed service so I am optimistic that the targets we have built into the new contract will see an improvement in customer satisfaction levels at our three facilities."
Mark Sesnan, managing director of GLL, said, “We are delighted to have been invited to work in partnership with Ealing Council and are committed to providing first class leisure and sporting facilities to local residents."
New front of house systems that collate management data (usage, profile of customers, administrative information) are to be installed at all facilities. The new arrangements should enable quicker response to day-to-day maintenance issues. The contract also provides protection on hours of use for the long-standing clubs that use the facilities.
Greenwich Leisure Limited (GLL) is a non-profit distributing organisation, which operates more than 50 public leisure centres within the M25 area in partnership with nine London boroughs.
