A-level Maths to yoga for beginners

Council offers affordable part-time courses for adults

Residents who want to learn new skills or study for a qualification to help them get ahead can still apply for places on one of more than 2,000 courses on offer from Hounslow Council’s Adult and Community Education service.

The 2006 brochure “Part-time courses for all” gives the details of all the subjects available at more than 80 venues around the borough.

Discounts on course fees are available for concessions and many of the centres include a crèche for those with young children.

Cllr Dr Robert Kinghorn, Executive Member for Education and Children, said “There is no time in your life when it is too late to learn. Whether you want to pursue a hobby or improve your skills there will be a course for you.  For some people a short course in a non-academic subject may be the first time they’ve been in a learning environment since leaving school with little or no qualifications.

“These courses can be an important first step for them in learning new skills and gaining the confidence they need to get back into the workplace.”

With more than 2,000 part-time courses running across the borough there’s something for everyone, ranging from A-level Maths and Access databases, to violin and yoga for beginners.
