Latymer Prep Celebrates 10th Anniversary

Full Academic Scholarship Fund Announced in Commemoration

Latymer Prep, on Hammersmith’s Upper Mall, celebrated its tenth anniversary with a special fête, held in its garden, on Saturday 6th May. The wide variety of games, stalls and events included an opportunity for current pupils to throw wet sponges at the Principal, Stuart Dorrian, and other teachers who were trapped in the stocks!

Mr Dorrian also had some exciting news of another way in which the school is to mark the milestone in its history.

“I am delighted to announce that Latymer Prep will be offering a full academic scholarship every year (from September 2007) to an exceptionally bright child who, due to limited financial means, would not otherwise be able to afford to come to the school,” said Mr Dorrian. “The first student, who will almost certainly live in the local area, will join the school in September 2007. There is also the opportunity of a second full scholarship, also starting in September 2007, assuming that the right candidate is found.”

The school, recently described by the Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) as “a happy, lively school which encourages and nurtures boys and girls”, has recently completed its transition into full co-education. Boys and girls are accepted from the age of seven.

“The fête was an opportunity for the school to celebrate everything that our pupils and staff have achieved over the past decade,” said Mr Dorrian. “The scholarship fund has been built up through generous contributions from parents of current and past pupils, teachers, old Latymerians and other friends of the school. It is another exciting and more permanent way of celebrating success at Latymer, and of providing the huge benefits of a Latymer education to children who would not otherwise have access to it.”
