Deadline approaches for primary applications

Forms for September start must be submitted by cut-off date

Parents of children who are due to start school this September are being reminded that the deadline for applications to primary schools is 7th February 2006.

All children, who will be four years old by 31st August 2006, can begin full-time education this September.

Application forms, which can be obtained from your most preferred school, should be returned to this same place.

Each household sits within a Priority Admission Area (catchment) of a community (state) primary school and children within this area have first priority for admission to their Priority Admission Area school.

The application form invites parents to apply for three schools in descending order of preference. It should be noted that if an application is made to a school in a borough in which the child is not a resident, then there is no responsibility to that borough to award a school place to that child.  It should also be noted that most voluntary aided church schools have additional forms that must be completed and references obtained for the school's admissions panel to consider.

The council are strongly recommending that parents include their Priority Admission Area school among their three preferences.

To find out which is your Priority Admission Area school, visit www.hounslow.gov.uk/primary_schools or call Hounslow Council’s school admissions team on 020 8583 2652.
