Overall Pass Rate of 97% Holds School in Top 10 State Sixth Forms
Chiswick Community School has reported another good set of results for A2 and AS exams and a significant improvement in grades at the very highest level.
One of the distinctive features of Chiswick Community School is the Sixth Form which they say is in the top ten percent of state sixth forms in the country. This year’s results saw an increase in grade A and B by three points to 45%.
The school maintained it’s overall pass-rate of 97%. James Whiting, Deputy Headteacher, stated that, ‘this is testament to the ongoing hard work of staff and students.’
Many individual students have achieved all their ambitions and there are many noteworthy success stories. Robert Rix and Gregory Brocklehurst will be reading PPE at York University, with Robert achieving three grade As. Faisal Reza also achieved 3 A grades and will be reading Maths at Edinburgh. He will be joined at Edinburgh by Gemma Porter reading German and English and Mariel Richards, reading Japanese. Robbie Harman-Snell has won a place at Bristol; reading Zoology at Bristol University achieving two grade As and a B. Roshan Bahal overcame a serious accident to achieve a grade A and a grade B. Imogen Jean was a particular success story: She will be taking her first choice course at St Mary’s - teaching.
A spokesman for the school said that "Overall this represents a very positive year for students and staff alike and a fine example of the excellent standards set at Chiswick Community School."
Top marks in the borough go to Gunnersbury School with A to C grade success of 91% and an A to B pass rate of 65% They also received a 100% pass rate over all.
Chiswick Community School saw 68% of exams being awarded A to C grades and Brentford School for Girls saw 60% at that level with St. Mark's Roman Catholic School at 85%.
Gumley House achieved their best ever result with 81% of passes at A to C and Isleworth and Syon also broke their record with 76% of passes at the top grades. They were also the only other school in the area apart from Gunnersbury to achieve a 100% pass rate.
The Green School did particularly well in terms of A-B passes which represented 59% of the total, their best performance ever.
