OFSTED Report Confirms Southfield's Success Story

Primary school goes from strength to strength under the headship of Charlie Morris

“Southfield has improved to be a good school in which pupils make good progress in their work and personal development.” Such is the overall judgement of OFSTED inspectors after their recent two day inspection of the Bedford Park primary school. The judgement confirms the progress the school has made since its last inspection in 2004.

Head Teacher Charles Morris who arrived at the school in January 2006 was cited in the report for providing “outstanding leadership that has enabled the school to make considerable strides.”

Mr. Morris commented, “I am pleased that OFSTED has recognised what the rest of our school community already knew- Southfield is on the up. I am especially pleased that the inspectors noted the strength of our staff team. It is a privilege to work alongside such dedicated professionals. We genuinely believe we are making a difference to the children’s lives and now this has been independently validated.”

Morris continues, “Southfield’s strength is its sense of community. The affection parents and pupils hold for the school came through in the report. It is an honour to facilitate this community as it builds something strong and meaningful.”

OFSTED noted Southfield’s outstanding work, especially in the area of Spiritual, Moral and Social development. The report also notes growing confidence in the school amongst local families. Inspectors confirmed, “The school is gaining a high reputation in the local community which is richly deserved.”

Chair of Governors Andrew Bickley said “I am delighted at this report. We have made great progress under the leadership of Charlie Morris. And the fine progress in our childrens' learning has gone hand in hand with nurture of all our children. As Ofsted say "care and support are strong and this means that children’s personal development is also good. Relationships are very positive and this is a very harmonious community. Pupils behave well and show respect for different faiths and cultures." This is something to be proud of - just as we are proud of our academic success.
