The Shepherds Bush Housing Group (SBHG) has set up a hardship fund to help its residents cope with the rising cost of living.

The Chiswick-based housing association has made support from the fund available to everyone living in its properties including shared owners. SBHG customers who think they may benefit from the scheme are encouraged to get in contact directly with the Income Team, who will be able to provide more information on how the fund can be accessed.

The fund has already paid for a new Worcester Bosch boiler free-of-charge to a struggling resident. In partnership with Worcester Bosch, SBHG helped one of their shared owners by covering the costs of a new boiler and the installation.

The resident reached out to SBHG’s Income Team informing them that they were unable to heat their property as their boiler had broken down and they didn’t have the means to source and purchase a replacement. This was brought to the repairs team who worked with boiler manufacturer Worcester Bosch to supply a free Greenstar 4000 and installation. The latest model not only means the resident can heat their home once again but also thanks to its higher efficiency levels it keeps their energy costs down.

Michael Storer, Head of Repairs & Operations for the Shepherds Bush Housing Group, commented, “Many of our residents have been struggling with the cost-of-living crisis. The uncertainty that every-increasing bills can bring is understandably a great concern to them.

“So when things happen that are out of their control, such as a heating system breaking down, we want to be able to support in any way that we can. As happy as we are that we could help this particular resident, we really want to encourage all residents who are having issues to get in contact to understand what options they have for support.”

For any SBHG residents, including shared ownership residents, who may be struggling with the cost-of-living crisis, get in contact with SBHG’s Income Team on income.team@sbhg.co.uk or 020 8996 8874.
