Move would reduce access to Chiswick and Brentford from motorway
Conservative members of the Greater London Assembly have revealed proposals to close Junction two of the M4 motorway.
The closure of the junction, between Chiswick Roundabout and Brentford, was apparently one of several options discussed by Transport for London and the Highways Agency to ease traffic problems in the area.
Richard Barnes, London Assembly member Richard Barnes told Ealing Times, "You can see from the minutes that what's important is not what's said, but rather what's implied.
"I have it on good authority that they're at least considering this measure on the M4.
"I fail to see how closing motorway exits will improve the situation, it can only mean shifting traffic congestion elsewhere and if they push ahead with it, I shall resist at all costs."
Transport for London have denied that there were any plans for closing the M4 junction.
