Industrial Estate Traders Kept In The Dark

Council criticised by business owners for lack of communication

Traders on the Stirling Road industrial estate have voiced their frustrations at the lack of communication from Ealing Council.

One trader, who owns a number of properties on the estate situated off Bollo Lane, said, "The council have carried out work like painting double yellow lines on corners which is great but there has been no notification nor explanation why some of the most dangerous corners have been missed out."

"Then we discover that notices have been posted in the Roslin Road Car Park, saying that it is to close from Monday 12th March and any vehicles left there after that date will be towed by the Council and subject to a removal fee of £150"

"The car park is a vital facility for the businesses on this estate and to have it closed with no explanation is unacceptable"

The car park's closure has exacerbated the already significant burden of commuter and Chiswick Business Park overflow parking both on the estate and the adjoining Bollo Lane. Add to that the cars of the employees and customers of the 150 or so businesses situated on the estate it means that streets have reached saturation point.

A spokesperson for Ealing Council said, "The car park is currently for sale. Due to ongoing health and safety issues, including fly-tipping and general damage to the area, the council has decided to close the site. This action will reduce the council's maintenance costs and avoid further damage being done to the car park and surrounding area prior to its sale."
