Week of events to encourage sustainable transport options
Ealing Council is encouraging residents to take part in 'good going' week from Wednesday 15th to 22nd September. This is a series of London-wide events by Transport for London (TfL) aimed at promoting sustainable transport options, such as walking, cycling and using public transport.
"The good going week is part of a wider travel awareness campaign that strives to improve the health and quality of life of Londoners by reducing traffic congestion and vehicle emissions," said Cllr Stephen Sears, Cabinet Member for Transport and Planning.
"Ealing already has a range of initiatives in place to make sustainable transport more accessible and safer for the community. These include the Safer Routes to Schools project, which involves measures to encourage more children to walk, cycle and take public transport to school, and the Cycle Training initiative, which offers professional on-road cycle training to people living and working in Ealing."
Residents who pledge to use safer, healthier and more environmentally-friendly forms of transport will receive a loyalty card as part of the good going campaign. There will be regular prize draws for pledge cardholders starting in November. Pledges can be made online at www.goodgoing.co.uk or by completing a form available from the Council display stand during good going week or the Transport Strategy team on 020 8825 5649.
Yo can visit the Council’s travel awareness display in the courtyard of Ealing Broadway Shopping Centre on Saturday 18th and Monday 20th September from 11am to 2pm each day to pledge your support for the campaign and discover the many sustainable transport options available to you.
