RIVERSIDE FM - A THREE WEEK WEST LONDON FESTIVAL ON AIR

Riverside FM, an exciting new arts and community radio station will be broadcasting on 87.7 FM and over the internet at www.riversidefm.co.uk until 1st August 2002, from Riverside Studios, Hammersmith.

Riverside FM is a short term RSL (restricted service licence) station that has been organised by Riverside's Community/Education Department in collaboration with Women's Radio Group (WRG).

During the past six months over 100 West London organisations including schools, community groups and arts based projects have joined forces with local residents to create Riverside FM. The station's wide range of arts and local interest programmes will be presented by both new and established talent.

"We've provided training to local people and involved as many as possible in the project" says Julie Hill, director of WRG. "We hope that this will inspire and encourage more people to fulfil their dreams of working in radio".

"Riverside Studios has a history of encouraging new artistic talent," says Helen Rowe, Riverside Studios' Head of Community/Education. "Riverside FM provides local artists, aspiring broadcasters, and community organisations an opportunity to share their ideas and work with a wider audience".

Weekday programming starts with The Breakfast Show's lively 'Wake Up Call' at 7am and closes in the early hours with a diverse mix of music including the freshest UK Garage and unsigned local talent. Throughout the day programmes will include magazine Youth Programmes, live guests on Riverside Café, original radio drama and comedy, and the Arts Alive programme. The weekend schedule includes programmes on the range of colourful West London markets, local history and sport.
