Playtime Returns To Stamford Brook Common

Residents delighted with the 'magnificent' result for the community

"Great news: the playground on Stamford Brook Common opened today," said a delighted Alison Goddard who has been the driving force behind its reinstatement.

Thanking members of Hounslow Council for their help, Alison said "When I dropped by soon after six o'clock this evening [Tuesday 3rd May], there were more than a dozen children playing in it. I am delighted that we have been able to get this magnificent result for the community."

A petition with around 500 signatures had been presented to Hounslow Council demanding the reinstatement of the playground on Stamford Brook Common. However, faced with such strong feeling in the community, and with help of local Councillors in particular Cllr John Todd, Head of of Council's Leisure Services Andy Smith, the decision had already been made.

The Council also managed to find £60,000 to repair the paths which are in an 'appalling state'.

The play equipment was removed by workmen in August without consultation for 'health and safety' reasons.
