Free Parking on Christmas Eve

Charges to be waived in Chiswick and Brentford

Hounslow Council have announced that the borough's car parks and on street parking spaces are to be free of charge this Christmas Eve.

The move is design to boost takings at local businesses over the festive period

The Council has suspended parking charges on some days between 24 December and 1 January.

No charges will be made in council controlled paid-for parking spaces on-street and in car parks on Christmas Eve Thursday 24 December.

On Saturday 26 December [Boxing Day], Monday 28 December and Friday 1 January 2016 [New Year’s Day] bank holiday restrictions will apply in council controlled car parks and on-street parking.

Normal parking restrictions and charges will still apply on the following dates: Sunday 27 December, Tuesday 29 December, Wednesday 30 December, and Thursday 31 December

Normal charges resume from Saturday 2 January 2016.

Councillor Steve Curran, Leader of Hounslow Council, said: “This is just a small gesture from us so that shoppers can get those last minute purchases on Christmas Eve that they need and also be able to get to relatives and friends over Christmas and New Year.

“We hope that it will make things a little easier for everyone trying to get around and also for our local businesses, as it will be easier for residents to visit and shop in and around their local town centres at this time.”

Motorists should note that other parking restrictions such as double yellow lines will still be in place and will be enforced during this time.
