Prime Minister Is 'Live From Brentford'

Records New Year Message From Brompton Bikes

The Prime Minister, Rt Hon. David Cameron MP, recorded his New Year’s Message to the country in front of workers at Brompton Bicycles’ factory in Brentford.

The Managing Director of the company, Will Butler-Adams, was recently awarded an OBE for services to manufacturing in the New Year Honours list.

Local MP Mary Macleod described the Prime Minister’s choice as ‘fitting’, for a message about growing the economy and the Government’s long term economic plan for the future. She said: “Brompton Bikes in Brentford is the perfect choice to talk about our country’s return to prosperity – a British success story producing over 20,000 folding bikes every year, exporting to over 40 countries"

The Prime Minister also visited Brentford in January last year, when he met John Watson from John’s Boat Works and attended a roundtable discussion with female entrepreneurs at the Time Café in Brentford Dock.

Brompton Bikes in 2010 won two Queen's Awards for Enterprise honours. The firm which makes folding bikes, has seen a 28% surge in sales last year.
