There are to be a series of overnight closures lasting over two weeks on the A4 Great West Road in Brentford.

These are to allow a contractor working for National Highways to undertake a series of structural surveys on the Chiswick Flyover which is used by over 100,000 people every day. The M4 motorway will remain open while the work is taking place.

The closures will be taking place between Tuesday, 27 May and Saturday, 14 June and will run from 10pm to 5am.

Connect Plus Services will be conducting tests from the ground level on the concrete pillars which support the flyover

Initially the A4 Great West Road will be closed eastbound between Ealing Road and the Chiswick Roundabout, from Tuesday 27 May for seven nights

Then the westbound carriageway will be closed between the Chiswick Roundabout and Ealing Road, from Tuesday 3 June for seven nights

There will be overnight lane closures on the A4 east and westbound, at Ealing Road, on Tuesday 10 and Wednesday 11 June and then east and westbound, between Boston Manor Road and Ealing Road, on Thursday 12 and Friday 13 June

Signposted diversion routes will be in place overnight via Chiswick Roundabout and the A315 Brentford High Street, using the B455 Ealing Road or A3002 Boston Manor Road, depending on which section is closed. For access to the M4 via junction 3 take the A4 westbound to the Waggoners Roundabout and the A312 The Parkway northbound .

Access to the side roads directly off the A4 where it is closed will be maintained for residents and businesses. You should speak to a member of the work team on site who will escort you through the closure to your property when it is safe to do so. The work should consist of visual inspections and hammer tap inspections which shouldn’t cause any major noise disturbance.

Provision has been made to safely escort buses through the closures, where required. This also applies to emergency services responding to incidents.

Residents can also contact customer.enquiries@connectplusm25.co.uk with any questions or to find out more about this work.

The surveys on the flyover are being carried out in advance of further work planned for the second half of 2025. They will determine which essential refurbishment work is required on the ageing concrete structure which is now over 50 years old. This work will also continue periodically over
the coming years.
