Mural by Kew Bridge Confirmed as a Banksy

An artwork that recently appeared on a building next to Kew Bridge has been confirmed as being by street artist Banksy.
Speculation about its provenance ended when he posted a picture on his Instagram account of the stencilled mural which features a mountain goat teetering on a ledge this Monday (5 August).
Although he made no comment with the post, this had previously been the way he has acknowledged responsibility for the works.
The mural is on the Surrey side of the bridge on the side of the building with the Caxton Name Plate Mfg sign which dates back to the sixties although the company ceased trading at the end of the last century. It is best viewed while standing on the east side of Kew Bridge.
The lack of explanation of the work has led to speculation as to its meaning with some saying it represents mankind teetering on the brink due to global warming.
Some have claimed that the horns of the animal portrayed are characteristic of a variety of Ibex common in Gaza and that it is a comment on the situation in the Middle East and the parlous situation of the residents of that area.

Others have pointed out that the CCTV camera to the right of the mural was moved to point at the falling rocks indicating that it is a warning about the level of surveillance in society with no place on earth totally private. The security camera has since been moved back to its original position.
Some children viewing the piece yesterday were amused as they thought it showed the goat going to the toilet.
